-In the peer review one said that I need to present more logos because I have a lot of pathos but how do I do that when I feel like I have already presented so many facts.
-how do i make my tone more academic throughout my paper. -how do i get a good hook that isnt the story that I picked for my intro.

In my search for valid research sources i have found and article that really supports my question for my research paper which was how does instagram affect the female body image. or in other words how instagram makes women feel about their body. The first article i have is below.
Hendrickse, Joshua, et al. “Full Length Article: Instagram and College Women’s Body Image: Investigating the Roles of Appearance-Related Comparisons and Intrasexual Competition.” Computers in Human Behavior, vol. 74, Sept. 2017, pp. 92–100. EBSCOhost, doi:10.1016/j.chb.2017.04.027. In this article it discusses how women who interact with appearance related social media sites such as instagram feel about their body. It states that these women often experience body dissatisfaction and end up with food eating disorders. that women on these websites fall in love with the thin ideal that these sites promote. and that the thin ideal is getting smaller and smaller even though the women's body has gotten bigger in the last two decades. this website is credible and has provide specific studies that i will use in my research paper. it is also allows the average women to personally connect while reading this article. Its extremely relatable and easy to understand. The second article Im going to use is focusing on one study of females between the ages of 18-25 here in the united states and some women in Australia. Fardouly, Jasmine, et al. “Instagram Use and Young Women’s Body Image Concerns and Self-Objectification: Testing Mediational Pathways.” New Media & Society, vol. 20, no. 4, Apr. 2018, pp. 1380–1395. EBSCOhost, doi:10.1177/1461444817694499. this article discusses how women on these social media apps end up self-objectify and having body issues. how these women compare themselves to other women and how they compare themselves to celebrates. this all leads to eat disorders and an overall depression amongst young women. this article is emotionally moving and appeals to ethos. It also uses logic because it is a specific study amongst a small ranged age group. We were told to find some resources that would not be the best to use in our research paper either because they lacked a factual base or they were just personal blogs. one of the resources that i found was a personal blog named Mind that ego the person who writes the blog is named Ricky, I didn't see a last name on his page, but the blog talks about spiritual growth and how we need to love ourselves instead of trying to live up to these social media influencers with unrealistic bodies. while this article is opinion based and more of a personal experience with instagram it would still be a good resource to use when talking about how its a common topic of discussing and people post blogs about it and the average everyday women might struggle with their body appearance similar to these women on Ricky's blog. this resource should probably be saved for last though and stick with factual based resources.
The topic I am really interested in writing my research paper on is on Instagram and how it affects the way women view their bodies. The question that I will research is does Instagram really have an effect on the way women look at their body. I feel like the answer to this question is yes. From personal experience, I can say that I have looked at a female social influencers account and found myself feeling ashamed of my body type and yet I still continue to follow these sort of Instagram accounts with models that almost look too flawless to be real. I also know that these social influencers will try to sell teas and lollipops to help “get the same body “that they have. They have the market to sell these products to and I think it does help promote body issues. I didn’t use to stop and worry about if my body looked good enough and granted the college freshman fifteen has gotten the best of me I’m still in relatively good shape, but as more and more of the social influencer pop up with their cosmetically altered bodies and their “all natural” teas I have found myself comparing what I look like to what these women look like. So, in my opinion yes Instagram does affect the way women view their bodies and I know it is not just women who feel this way to but for my research paper I’m going to be focusing specifically on women because I feel like I can personally relate to this topic. My audience for this paper is going to be the women who are regularly affected by Instagram and might feel negatively about their body. In my opinion, this age group is women from ages 15 to 30 years old.
In the text that I have chosen called Fake news the author is arguing that some news outlets produced today either digitally or on paper posses what is called fake news. the authors uses mostly logos or the appeal to logic to get their point across. in the introduction the author immediately reference a source that states that today millennial's can not distinguish between real and fake or deceiving news articles. The author explains what fake news is and how the catch phrase fake news became so popular in the past two years following the 2016 presidential election The author then begins to list specific websites whose goal is to primarily create and spread fake news. The author then explains how fake news is having a negative impact on society by sharing a story of a professor who had student citing website that were not legit. the amount of sources and information given in the text provides a strong logical argument and the logos appeal is very effective. To me appealing to logic is the best way to persuade a person of your stand point.
Ive decided to write my rhetoric paper on the fake news article this one caught my attention because I have seen social media news outlets producing articles that sometimes I cant tell are real or not. In the text I'm going to address who I think this article is written for, what I believe the true message of the article is and I'm going to asses the tone of the author. So far from skimming the text I'm getting that the authors tone is information and almost urgent as if we need to come up with a better solution for obtaining true news pieces. I feel as though this article is for the younger generations who are easier deceived when it comes to the news compared to our parents. Im honestly excited to read this article and discover the truth about fake news.
During our reading Losh discusses how the word rhetoric has a sort of negative connotation associated with it. Whenever I heard the word rhetoric I thought of it the same way the book describes it in a negative manner used to create a tense feeling. When actually according to the book it states how rhetoric came about and how it was used to open up conversations and not to close them down. I understand now that rhetoric isn't just how we speak but all the elements and key factors that go into to how we talk. It includes how we think combined with the situation that we are placed into. Before reading this I just used the word rhetoric with my limited knowledge of the actual meaning behind it. There are many conflicting ideas about how the rhetoric is used for example it states that Plato thought rhetoric was used to disguise flaws and prevent us from self improvement. Another philosopher names Aristotle believe that rhetoric could "put across a broad range of ideas" (Losh 43). He also discussed that in order to effectively communicate you must possess the three concepts ethos logos and pathos. All of these tools I hope will strengthen my writing techniques.
Truthfully I don't know if I have a structured writing process. Sometimes an idea will just pop into my brain and I can start writing from there. Other times I cant think of anything so I make a silly outline like the ones they taught us in fifth grade with three body paragraphs and three supporting details for each paragraph. Those are probably the worst papers that I write because they lack creativity and feel forced. When I do plan out a paper that Im interested in I like to write it down on paper and kind of brain dump all my ideas in an unorganized fashion. I do enjoy writing but I don't think I follow any of the grammar rules to make me a good writer. I would like to become more organized with my writing have my thoughts clear and concise. I don't really revise or review at the end sometimes I have my roommate Michaela read my papers before I turn them in.
